Pilot Mound Hockey Academy is an academic-based (Hockey Canada Registered Sports School), 10-month hockey program located in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. PMHA is your world class academic and hockey training facility created to maximize each students athletic and academic potential.

It is PMHA’s intention to continue to grow our academy as a highly successful entity, developing elite hockey players; grounded in academics and most importantly developing overall good human beings. Pilot Mound Hockey Academy fosters the ability to work as part of a team environment. Players leaving PMHA will have gained strong leadership capabilities to support them throughout their eventual life pathways.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Announces Manager of Hockey Operations

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy is pleased to announce Carson McConnell as the Manager of Hockey Operations for the 2024/25 season! Carson McConnell joins the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy staff with experience as a player, mentor, and official. Carson grew up in Pilot Mound, MB, where he played minor hockey from U7 to U13. He then moved on to play with the Pembina Valley AAA U15 Hawks and finished his minor hockey career playing 3 seasons with Pilot Mound Hockey Academy in the U17 Prep and U18 Prep divisions. Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Announces Coaching Staff for Female U18 Prep Program

Ryan Carels will take over as the head coach and Kirt Fortney will return as an assistant coach. Ryan was born and raised in Cypress River, Manitoba. His hockey career started in the Holland minor hockey system, then progressed and went on to play for the AAA Pembina Valley Hawks for his midget hockey years. He finished his final year of high school playing for his high school team, earning MVP. The following year he earned rookie of the year in Tiger Hills Senior Hockey League. Anthony Florentino returns as head coach, and Tyler Dixon will join as an assistant coach. Anthony returns to PMHA following his time with the U18 program last season as an assistant coach. Anthony had a successful 7 years of pro hockey in the AHL, ECHL, and SPHL. Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Announces Coaching Staff for Male U17 Prep Program

Rick McConnell will continue as head coach and Danny Carels will return as an assistant coach. Rick is a native of Pilot Mound where he played his minor hockey. He went on to play four seasons with the Pembina Valley Hawks in the Manitoba AAA Midget League, the Winkler Flyers of the MJHL, and later the Pilot Mound Pilots of the THHL. McConnell began his coaching career in 1992. Rick has been coaching with Pilot Mound Hockey Academy since its inception in 2015 with the Male U17 Prep Program. Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Announces Coaching Staff for Male U15 Prep Program

Colin Fafara and Brad Platt will lead the Male U15 Prep team for the 2024/25 season. Colin returns to PMHA for his second season. Colin comes from Philadelphia and the Ed Snider Hockey Foundation where he was a coach, skills coach, goalie coach, and rink coordinator. Colin’s prior coaching experience includes Rowan University, USA Hockey Camps, and Philadelphia Flyers Elite, with experience coaching all levels of hockey from ages 5 to college.
