Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Announces Medical Staff for 2023/24 Season

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy is excited to announce the Medical Staff for the 2023/24 season. Julie Medwid from South Central Physiotherapy (Pilot Mound, MB) will return as the organization’s Lead Physiotherapist and Emergency Response Coordinator. We are also excited about the addition of Mea Adcoe, who will take the position of Yoga Instructor and Mindfulness Coach. Everyday medical needs will be provided by the Physicians at Rock Lake Medical Clinic (Crystal City, MB), and our Sports Doctor/Concussions will be provided by Dr. Sherwin Gacutan of C.W. Wiebe Medical Clinic, (Winkler, MB). 

Julie Medwid Bio:

Julie grew up in Dauphin, MB, and after high school continued on to the University of Manitoba to complete her Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and Masters’s in Physical Therapy. For 16 years her sport of choice was Scottish Highland Dancing where she competed both provincially and nationally and further became immersed in strength and conditioning. She met her husband in university who is originally from Pilot Mound, MB, and moved to Crystal City, MB once completing her education.

Through the local private practice, South Central Physiotherapy, Julie provides both clinical treatments and team consultations. Her areas of practice include general orthopedics, concussion and sports injury rehabilitation, and pelvic health physiotherapy. She has received mentorship from some of the lead professionals in the areas of sport physiotherapy in Manitoba. She is continuing to expand and develop her education in sport rehabilitation. Julie is passionate about supporting her community in all levels of sports and physical activity. Julie most recently completed her certification as First Responder in Sports. 

Mea Adcoe Bio:

Mea grew up in Waterloo, Ontario, and has since then lived in four provinces. She has worked in many different industries including Video Production, Automotive, Underwater Robotics, and the food industry. Ultimately, leading her to turn her passion for yoga and mental health advocacy. Mea is a 200hr certified yoga teacher, who continues to grow her knowledge with further courses including her training with trauma-informed yoga. She is highly motivated and a welcoming Yoga Teacher who is comfortable working with people of all ages & levels. Has deep knowledge of asanas & correct alignment, as well as relaxation & breathing techniques. Enjoys inspiring others to improve their wellness & find a practice that helps them grow & heal. Committed to providing a safe environment for yoga knowledge and guidance through their practice. Creates modifications to the practice on-demand based on the abilities or injuries of class participants. She has an athletic background and puts a focus on tailoring her practices to the advancements of player development.
