Hello ‘BUFFALOES’ [PMHA] fans all across Manitoba’s South West. We are pleased to report on a successful although mixed weekend of hockey action involving both the Female and Male ‘BUFFS’ teams. We’d also like to note Buffaloes fans exist all across North America and our teams can be seen on Amateur Sports TV [at home] and Hockey TV [on the road]
The Male Buffs’ won 3 out of 4 on the road in Calgary before heading home right into an early Alberta snow storm that kept them safely in Medicine Hat an extra night…! Thanks to driver Lovell Stone for getting our team home safely on Monday evening.
The team wins came against POE 6 to 0, Coeur d’Alene 9 to 3 and Okanagan at 3 to 0. There lone loss came to Shawnigan Lake in game 2 of the 4-game weekend showcase event, with a 3-2 loss.
Some Male team weekend highlights included: Two shutouts, multiple points for a number of players but most importantly a greater team cohesion developed as the weekend progressed.
Our Female Buffs’ had a bit of a rough start to the season with a 1 and 3 record at home in their 1st home showcase / league event. The lone win came against Coeur d’Alene with a 4th game win by the score of 5 t0 2. A big win with the team keeping their chins up after 3 first game losses. Those were to Okanagan Hockey Academy 4 to 3; Rink Academy 9 to 0 and 2 to 0 vs Delta!
Things didn’t start well for our spunky Female team as we were short 3 players from the beginning, and that only got worse playing shorthanded all weekend! But as we noted a spirited effort in game 4 gave us a nice finish to an otherwise ‘learned a lesson or two’ type weekend.
Our teams play away next weekend with the Female Buffs playing a showcase event close to home in Morden, Mb…! While the Male team is away in Minneapolis? ‘REMEMBER’ you can watch both of our teams on ‘Hockey TV’ when they are on the road and ASTV at home in Pilot Mound…!!!
